State of the City 2013

A milestone each and every day.  Mayor Holloway spoke to a sell-out crowd at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino.  He mentioned all the new businesses opening in Biloxi as well as the improvements and expansions to the existing ones.

Tourism is the largest business segment in Biloxi.  As Mayor Holloway stated, "I've said it before and I'll say it again: Tourism is our niche. But it's more than casinos. We are a city with casinos, we are NOT a casino city."

Mayor Holloway's entire speech can be found here, as well a link to a video:  http://www.biloxi.ms.us/mayor/speeches/speechdetail.asp?log=131

Be A Tourist For a Day! Tours
The Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce hosted two spring tours, as well as a tour for the Board of Directors of the chamber.  The tours are open to chamber members and their employees, so they can be better informed of all the wonderful things to do on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  The tours visited Beauvoir, the Biloxi Shrimping Trip, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art, Biloxi Schooners, and Ship Island Excursions.

Tourism is vital to Biloxi's economy and it is important we answer visitor's questions with as much first-hand knowledge as possible.  Front-line employees have the opportunity to visit our attractions and experience them as a visitor would.

Photo below was taken from the deck of the Biloxi Shrimping Trip.
