The State of the City
Mayor A.J. Holloway presented The State of the City Address during a Luncheon on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. The sold out crowd of 600 enjoyed a wonderfully prepared lunch by Chef Anthony. Mayor Holloway outlined the many accomplishments the City of Biloxi has made over the past four and a half years since Katrina came ashore and pointed out future development plans.
The 17th Annual Biloxian Made Good was held on Oct. 1 at the Biloxi Community Center.
The Biloxian Made Good honoree is an individual who has gone beyond his or her roots to make a name in a career field in another community. Even though the honoree is not living in Biloxi pursuing a career, the honoree has retained ties to Biloxi. The person is chosen by a selection committee.
This year’s honoree is Shayna Steele Cook. Shayna is a 1993 Biloxi High School graduate. She is an actress, singer, writer, composer and a world-class vocalist. Shayna has been on Broadway and the NYC music scene for the past 12 years.
Shayna sang several songs from her new CD "I'll be Anything" and donated a portion of the sale of her CD's to the Coastal Family Health Center.
Membership Meeting & Fish Fry
The Annual Membership Meeting & Fish Fry was held onTuesday, June 9 at the Biloxi Town Green. Dr. Paul A. Tisdale passed the gavel to President-Elect, Rusty David. Dr. Tisdale was presented a scrapbook of the past year's accomplishments and an engraved pewter plaque. The Board of Directors for the 2009-2010 fiscal year were announced. Outgoing board members were presented a gift from Dr. Tisdale.
Winner of Tri-Centennial Scholarship Fund Announced
Stevie Cantrell was announced as the recipient of the $1,000 Tri-Centennial Scholarship at the Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce Annual Membership Meeting and Fish Fry. Stevie is a 2009 graduate of St. Patrick High School with a 4.2 GPA. She is in the Hall of Fame, a member of the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, as well as many other accomplishments and honors throughout her high school years.
Stevie was crowned Shrimp Queen of the Biloxi Blessing of the Fleet, honored as the City of Biloxi Youth Volunteer of the year and has been recognized by several organizations for her countless hours of community service and involvement. Stevie is the daughter of Steven and Donna Cantrell of Biloxi.

Frankie Duggan with the Biloxi Bacon Brigade and the Strongs’ were on hand serving their famous fried catfish and hushpuppies. Simply Seafood Catering prepared a delightful chicken and sausage jambalaya, IP Casino Resort & Spa donated coleslaw and baked beans and Beau Rivage provided some yummy desserts – the brownies were awesome! Thanks to Rex Distributing for donating some cold brews for the party! DJ Johnny B Goode entertained the crowd with some island tunes. Several Ambassadors helped with registration, wine servers and assisting with the buffet line – KUDOS to them for all their help. There was a great turnout and everyone had a wonderful time.
